Mr. Bingle and Santa in the window at Maison Blanche store on Canal Street.
Maison Blanche's original flagship store on Canal Street was closed in the fall of 1998 when it was purchased by Dillard's, Inc. It was at that time, shortly after Hurricane George, that Mr. Bingle was moved to a new home at the Dillard's store in Metairie, LA. So it is there that you will find him, making his yearly appearance, just as he always has, heralding the coming season and spreading his magic cheer. Tradition marches on in true Bingle style!
The Never Ending Story
While some may consider this the end of our tale about the funny looking little snowman with an ice cream cone hat, others will disagree. There is a whole new generation of Mr. Bingle fans that love and adore him, a whole new generation that will pass this revered New Orleans tradition on to their own children some day. Mr. Bingle, as all great legends do, will live on in the hearts of young and old alike for an eternity of Christmases to come.
