The size comes smaller, especially the left foot. For Classical Tall, size 7 is perfect fit. For Brooks Tall I ordered size 7 first. But they are too smaller, I exchanged for size 8 then they fit perfectly. The soles are durable.

I live in Southern California. Not the coldest weather but great for our cold/ and wet days. I don't need to wear socks, they are so comfortable I can walk in them all day long and my feet don't hurt or get tired. They have held up remarkably well to constant wear and tear. I purchased a pair 3 the same time I got mine for my daughter who was then 11 years old.
Only problem-last season the foot bed insert comes out when I remove the boot.
My brooks have been through 3 winters so far, worn almost every day, and are only now starting to show some wear. The sole is still in excellent shape. I clean them regularly with a vinegar/water blend and treat them with leather lotion and waterproofing spray, and they have held up amazingly! They keep my feet warm and toasty in MN winters. This will probably be their last winter, then I will definitely be buying another pair.
I depend on my footwear while hunting, fishing, hiking, construction and other heavy duty use and living in rugged dirt road terrain. Amazed at how sole sticks to everything! From the coast to creeks, I can easily get around and hang tight without slipping. I am able to hang all day with some pretty well outfitted fellas without being embarrassed because my feet are cold, tired or hurt. I got my first of three pairs (they last two years easily) in 2003 because of a hurt ankle from a motorcycle accident. I wear these boots more than any others. I like the way the leather upper does not stretch out. Buy them snug and they will stay perfect. My favorite footwear for motorcycling and any foul weather. But really, I love the way they look with jeans and even some skirts. They clean up well. They are supremely warm and take heroic efforts before any toes get wet. Haven't seen them in stores, so glad they are at the website. I like that they are still being made. These boots out perform any waterproof hiking or work boots I have ever owned and I have the best of them. These are the best of the best and I'm not sure they were trying to me more than a great casual boot.
