      Why did I purchase it?
      -Wall oven broke
-Biggest Toaster Oven out there; Large Pizza capacity
      -Great Looks, Classy

      Cons?
-It won't hold large casserole dishes. Be careful the grid will bow with heavy dishes like Coringware.
-Functions is a trial and error; Problematic for my children to work at first as far as turning on and setting.
-Convection feature is nice, but I wonder if they have an issue with it working right on this unit.
-I'm on my second oven like this one; First oven was a lemon b/c it would turn off during preheat cycle, lock up and scream 'error'; Good news is that the Customer Service for Kitchenmaid is superior and hassle free; In 3 min, I had a new one on the way and old one shipped back for free.

      Pros?
      -Looks is superior
      -Kitchenaid is known for quality
      -Cooks great
      -Saves on energy bill
-Great for the ease of use when cooking appetizers
-LOVE the pizza feature and how it works
-Love the confection figure b/c it cuts cooking time in half for a toaster oven
-Better than any Black and Decker toaster oven
-EASY to clean. I use stainless steel cleaner as it recommends for outside, but really there is no mess b/c the tray slides right out and wipes off with damp cloth. LOVE that

General Recommendation for a Potential Buyer?
-Great customer service and replacement policy. I got a new toaster oven replacement with another 1 year warranty.
-If it breaks, they'll stand behind it. (For factory damage, not customer damage to unit like dropping it or swinging on door.)
-Buy it and give Kitchenaid a try. After my experience with their customer service, I told my husband to buy a new Kitchenaid Wall Oven which is on the way to replace the one that broke.

**One reviewer said chicken juice ran out of the bottom of the toaster drip tray and covered her table. Oh dear, I fear that she did not use common sense. She should have placed it in the pizza pan with the round grid insert. The juice would have filled the pizza plan. The drip tray on the bottom of toaster catches crumbs, not an entire chicken juice. It sounds like she just laid the chicken naked into the oven and placed it right on the grill. Bad idea. I have cooked a chicken in this oven...either sit it in the pizza pan or place it on the round grill inserted into the pizza pan. Happy cooking

I bought this to replace a DeLonghi countertop oven I'd loved for years but sadly it died. I so wanted to love this thing. But, two things confound me and I have to believe it was an engineer who's never cooked so much as a pop tart that came up with the idea to 1) not include an interior light and 2) require you to push the Start button when the thing is done preheating.

The latter "feature" is killing me. Killing. Me. I want to huck this thing into the street and buy something else (and this puppy wasn't cheap).

Every time I use this oven to bake/roast/cook something other than toast, I have to stop what I'm doing or - even worse - hang around the kitchen waiting for the thing to finish preheating to press that everloving Start button, or else the stupid thing shuts off altogether.

How this is a "feature" I'll never understand. I have a regular oven that just beeps when it's preheated, and an additional light goes on next to a label that says "Pre-heated." BLAM - preheated - no further involvement required from me. I can choose to put the food into the oven before it's done preheating, or wait until it's preheated - whatever works for me.

But with this oven, I suppose it's trying to make sure I am fully aware of the complete 'preheatedness' and am completely cognizant of placing my food into a fully preheated oven with the added step of having to physically press that Start button, otherwise, I could put food into a lukewarm oven and ruin my dinner.

KitchenAid, whoever decided this was a good idea should be fired. Last night's dinner actually was almost ruined because it took about 15 minutes for the oven to fully preheat, and I missed pressing that stupid Start button twice because - brace yourselves - I had other things I needed to do (like finish work) and wasn't in the kitchen when the oven finished preheating, so it just turned itself off. I ended up having to stand there, watching it preheat, waiting for it to tell me to "press Start."

      Hate this thing.

Comments about KitchenAid Digital Full-Size Convection Oven:

This is the best thing since slice bread. Really!! I had a toaster oven and didn't know what I was missing until I brought this convection oven. I baked lots of food in this oven and have not experience hot spots, no burning, just golden delicious food. Cooks very well. The smart digital interface is very easy to use and I like the look and style (stainless). Thanks guys for developing a great appliance. I love this and all my other kitchenAid things I have in my kitchen. # 1 fan!

      Sucks Big Time!

      By

      from San Diego

Comments about KitchenAid Digital Full-Size Convection Oven:

This oven is both dangerous and frustrating. The danger derives from the fact that there is not an effective stop mechanism on the wire shelf upon which you place food. So, when your check or want to remove your hot food and pull out the shelf half way, it very easily goes beyond the stop, tilts downward, and then your hot food slides right off the shelf, either onto you or the floor. I sustained a nasty burn this evening trying to catch the round pan that slid right off. THIS IS A HUGE DESIGN FLAW and is the last straw. The other HUGE problem involves the preheat. Unlike all the previous toaster ovens I've owned, you cannot just put the food in and turn it on. This machine requires you to preheat it, which takes a long time, and then you have to be standing around waiting to press start after it beeps, or else the machine will turn itself off and you have to start again. You cannot even "cheat" by putting the food in while it preheats (per the directions), because it will just keep preheating til kingdom come, without ever reaching the temp you've set. I've put up with this machine for about 6 months, and will be packing it up and sending it back to Kitchenaid, where I hope they'll stick it in their employee lunchroom so admin can hear the howls. A true piece of junk, second only to the built in ss refrig we paid over $6000 for., which used faulty capacitors from China and then discontinued making replacement parts after only 5 years!!

I first noticed that the baking select knob was very loose.

Comments about KitchenAid Digital Full-Size Convection Oven:

I have used this 15 times so far. The calibration is definitely off.
It takes 3 times longer to bake anything than I have ever experienced.
I owned the Kitchen Aid model beneath this, and it was great.(For 7 years)
At 400 degrees it took 3 hours to cook 4 pork chops. The digital display now
go's out after 2 hours. If I unplug it, it comes back on. The knob on the baking
select is loose. Oh well, very disappointed!

Thought i was buying best of KA line but having doubts...

      By

      from Los Angeles, CA

Comments about KitchenAid Digital Full-Size Convection Oven:

I have been wanting a bigger and better countertop oven for awhile and was debating between KA, Cusinart and Breville but decided to go with KA as I am a loyal KA customer.
The oven itself is big and i love the fact that i can do majority of my cooking in this oven instead of firing up the actual stovetop oven. It fits a whole pizza perfectly and can bake 2 loaves of bread easily.

Now here is where I am having problems with /CONS....
-Why is there no oven light? It doesn't make sense. You would want to see how your food is looking. At night time, i have to either open the oven door to check on the food, making heat escape and lowering the internal temp or shine my cell phone flashlight over the oven window to see how the food is looking.

      - When i cook anything that goes to 450 F degrees, it shuts off after 5 minutes. The oven just turns off, no warning. I don't have a timer on or anything but it just shuts off. Then i have to turn it back on, set the temp and of course it goes into the preheating mode and won't cook even tho technically, it is still 450F inside the oven.
The whole preheating thing was nice i thought but if you miss the window of preheat to ready, and don't put your food in the oven in time, the oven will shut off and you will have to do the process all over again which makes it not only time consuming but having to babysit your oven.

-When i select convection mode, nothing happens. Convection cooking is usually for the air to circulate inside the oven to help with the heat and cooking but i see NO difference whether i am cooking convection or not and no changes are noticeable when i press that button on my oven.

I am wondering if my oven is defective due to the fact that the oven just shuts down at 450 on it's own and that there is no change with convection setting.... Disappointed.
