Recently I was referred to a 'great' preschool. The mom told me her 3 year old knows all his letters and the sound they make. I was VERY interested, but the cost was too much. So I determined that if a preschool could do it so could I. I write a letter on the white board and my son finds the magnet letter that matches. We say the letter together and the sound it makes. We have moved into doing the same with small words. We sing the alphabet, read alphabet books, and watch abc videos too; but this board helps us both to sit and focus on his learning. We do this for 20 minutes 2-3 times a week and I have seen a huge difference! AND he gets VERY excited when mommy gets out the letters. Yay learning!

I love M&D products and rave about them normally. However, my son was given this as a gift and I would have returned it if I could have. My main complaint is that magnets are not strong enough to stay on the board and fall off far too easily. Another thing is that if you use the whiteboard pen on the chalkboard, it doesn't wash off! The third thing is that there is no storage for the pen/chalk/eraser/magnets when not in use. Happy to give further feedback

I only gave this 3 stars because my daughter and I decided this was a little advanced for my 2 yr old granddaughter but I know she will like it a lot in a few months.

Comments about Melissa & Doug Magnetic Chalkboard/Dry-Erase Board:

My son likes it, however I find the magnets are too weak and if you bump the board they all fall off. I also thought the letters and numbers would be painted, but the colors are just stuck on the wood. Once my son figured that out he's been working on getting them off.
Haven't tried the whiteboard side yet as he's too young.

Comments about Melissa & Doug Magnetic Chalkboard/Dry-Erase Board:

The students in my classroom love this so much I had to go out and get one for my son. The magnetic chalkboard/dry erase board is a great way to keep your child entertained for hours! Not only does it encourage their creative and artistic side to come out, but it is a fantastic way for your child to practice writing and reading.

Bought this for my grand daughter. Loved it
Loved how colorful the letters and numbers were.
I think she will really enjoy this and it will be a great help
for her to learn her letters and numbers.
Love your products but the only thing I don't like is that
it wasn't made in the USA. Disappointing

Comments about Melissa & Doug Magnetic Chalkboard/Dry-Erase Board:

If you have limited space in your home, then this is perfect! My grandson and I pratice writing his ABC's & Numbers. He loves to draw on it, us the letters, and chalk. I have 3 hanging in the bedroom as all the children love to us it. I purchased a hanging pen holder at staples and that's where we keep the dry erase markers, chalk and erasers. That's the only downside of this product, no storage for the supplies, but it's not really necessary and would make the product bulkier than it needs to be. We take it on trips and they use the magnetic numbers and chalk.

Comments about Melissa & Doug Magnetic Chalkboard/Dry-Erase Board:

My 18 month old daughter loves this toy. Right now we just use it for the letters/numbers and putting them on the board (magnetic). We just learned about magnets/gravity and she thought it was great! I haven't gotten out the markers or chalk but I'm sure she'll love them too. Its also very durable and a great size!
