I can't say enough good things about this hat. I work outside and it serves the purpose of providing good sun protection and yet is so lightweight that you forget you are wearing it. The material is soft and dries quickly. It fits perfectly and is easily adjustable if you need to tighten in it the wind, etc. The colors are great- I bought the green and two of the black ones. I will be wearing these hats all summer for working outside, hanging out in the beach, running, and wearing around town. Thanks North Face for making a hat that is so functional yet so stylish too!

I bought a couple TNF "Horizon Hats" back in 2015. Hands down, the best training and general purpose hats I own. So I was excited to pick up a couple more this year. This iteration, the "Horizon Ball Cap," is disappointing for the following reasons. 1. Closure is different (worse). The "Horizon Hat" has a well-engineered two piece clip closure. This feature allows me to quickly clip the hat onto a pack strap, gearshift knob, whatever. Great for quickly drying out a wet hat, or stowing it when not needed. This "Horizon Ball Cap" has a plastic buckle, through which you weave a nylon strap. So the "quick clip" functionality is gone. 2. Sweatband is different (worse). The sweatband on the Horizon Hat is semi-perforated with tiny holes/dots. It also stretches. Horizon Ball Cap's sweatband has no perforations and does not stretch. It is, however, "branded" (i.e., says "TNF" in big letters). Reduced functionality, increased "branding." Fail. 3. No stretch elastic in the closure system. As stated above, the "Horizon Hat" has a two piece closure system with a plastic clip. One of the pieces is secured to the hat with stretchy elastic. This allows me to dial in the fit even better, and also makes the hat sit more security on my head. The "Horizon Ball Cap" has no such elastic in the closure. 4. Can't stow excess closure strap. Both hats are designed so the excess nylon closure strap can be stowed in a pocket inside the sweatband. The Horizon Hat has plenty of excess nylon strap to make this possible. The Horizon Ball Cap does not. When sized for my head (which is not especially large), there is not enough excess strap to reach the pocket. The excess nylon strap simply flaps in the breeze. In summary, every difference between this year's "Horizon Ball Cap" and the "Horizon Hat" I love feels like a reduction in quality, utility, and (probably) manufacturing costs for TNF. I hope TNF will return to the previous style.

        Best hat I've owned.

Comments about The North Face Horizon Cap:

I have a fairly large head (size 7 ⅞) and finding hats that fit properly and comfortably can be a struggle. I bought the L/XL size of this cap and I have never looked back. It feels like wearing nothing at all and fits easily onto my head without causing any discomfort. Incredibly easy to clean too. If you too have a big head and are apprehensive about buying adjustable hats, look no further. 11/10 would buy again.

Comments about The North Face Horizon Cap:

I'm one of those people who is always looking for a good hat. A couple of years ago, I bought an earlier version of this hat that I loved because it came in a large size that fit my big (hat size 7 5/8) head. It had a fiddly quick-release clip that broke, but it was my favourite hat.
I have always found it hard to find a good quality cap that fits. This one is it - just the style I want, available in XL, and the best-fitting cap I have ever bought, better than my former favourite TNF cap.
Some reviewers on this thread dislike how low the crown sits on the head. I feel the opposite - this is the ideal fit for guys with large heads. I like that I can pull it down practically to my ears when the wind blows. I know this hat is going to stay on.
I have a quibble with the wide elastic sweatband - I would have preferred a cotton band instead. I will probably sweat more with this hat as the weather warms up. But it is so well-made and it looks right, too. I plan to buy a couple more. Thanks, North Face.

Comments about The North Face Horizon Cap:

This would be the perfect adventure hat, but . . . the crown comes down way too far on the head, especially given that this hat is sized. This has strikes the perfect balance of being rugged, technical, yet casual. So you could wear it around town with jeans, or outdoor pursuits. Love the light but durable fabric, sun protection, and simple design. Was the most excited that TNF offers it in sizes. I have a small head. The S/M fits great around the perimeter of my head, but comes down way too low, so it pushes on my ears and leave no room for sunglasses. TNF, if your listen, borrow the low crown concept of the Breakaway, keep offering it in sizes, and you'll have the perfect adventure hat.

This product works great for exercising/working out but wouldn't do so well casually. The fabric is very soft and flimsy which isn't a bad thing but from the picture I was expecting something more tough. Nonetheless I decided to use it for the gym and it works great!

Comments about The North Face Horizon Cap:

I love how well fitting the crown of the hat is. Deeper than most, but for me that is a good thing because I like to wear my hats lower near my brow line. My only complaint is that I had to return one because the ending the strap was beginning to fray. Overall it is an awesome hat, and truly one of the most comfortable hats I've ever owned. I bought three more a day after purchasing my first. The colors are great too! I worn it for a variety of activities and don't have any complaints aside from the strap!
